Good morning!

How amazing it is to have the opportunity to serve our God today. If you have read my most recent prayer letter, you may know that the Lord has brought me to a church to teach for a short season. Though teaching is not something I ever would have imagined myself doing, I am certainly learning to appreciate this time of growth the Lord is bringing me through. This semester I am teaching K5, 6th and 7th grade.

In Kindergarten, I have learned so much about how to help young children understand new concepts. Before coming to teach, I really did not have much experience with this age group, and honestly, it seemed quite intimidating to me at first. Now, however, I look forward to coming to school, and having the opportunity to, not only watch them learn and grow, but myself as well as I learn, very pointedly, what works and what does not. Sometimes it can be funny to see how quickly the kids will pick something up, just as I introduce something, before I even ‘teach’ it. Always makes me feel kinda silly.

In 6-7th grade, I am teaching history and language. History was what I took in college and I absolutely love it! World history was my favorite in school, and I thoroughly enjoy being able to share that with my students. It was a shift going from student teaching 11th grade history, to teaching Kindergarten and then 6-7th. Certainly a stretching point for me. Teaching language is very new. I did very well in grammar in school, possibly because of how many other languages I took and was learning. In fact, I did so well, that I did not have to take it in college, which at the time was so great, but now that I am teaching it and find myself 4 years removed from having been in an English class, I do wish I had taken it more recently. Fortunately it is starting to come back.

Overall, God has been so good, not only to be meeting so many needs for me while I am here teaching, but to be stretching me in so many ways. Almost everyday I can see a new way that the Lord has taught me something or made me better equipped to serve Him. I am so excited to see how He uses this time to mold me into the best version of myself, ready to follow Him and serve him on the mission field.
