The Classroom of Waiting

Waiting, everyone’s favorite thing to do. Whether its in the line at the post office, for a doctors appointment or for your turn on a roller coaster, we all hate playing the waiting game. And yet, as I write this, I can see that the classroom of waiting is the one being assigned to me. Blind waiting.

As most of you know, I sent out my prayer letter announcing that I had (finally) reached 100% of my support! And the next day was informed that my visa application had been denied. It seems to be a running theme sometimes, mountaintop days quickly followed by seemingly unconquerable valleys. But God. Were I in a situation where God could not reach me, this would surely be a panic-inducing situation, however, I have certainly seen God move some mountains for me in my days. The numerous answered prayers before and during deputation are the thoughts flooding my mind of late. I think back to the instance with Ray (my car) and how God truly moved to keep him running the ENTIRETY of my deputation journey! I think of the many times I needed a place to sleep and God answered those prayers; times when, believe it or not, money was tight and I needed gas, God filled my tank every time and usually gave me some extra. HE has yet to let me down and I know He has a plan and reason for asking me to wait for my visa.

While I am waiting, I have the opportunity to help my parents here in their church in Maryland. I am able to help with soul-winning, nursery and teaching Sunday School. I also will have the chance, later this month to travel to some of my supporting churches and update them before I leave for the field. God has a purpose for my time of waiting and I am going to search for it.

Maybe God has you in a period of waiting at this time as well, are you looking for what he has to teach you while you’re in this classroom? It won’t last forever, I can promise you. When you leave you will need to take with you the lesson learned. Search for your lesson. Dig out the truths He has for you while in this waiting period. I promise you there is something for you to find, if you’ll only search for it.
