Rays adventure
Well we are late again lol, I am trying my best I promise!
These last few weeks have had me running busy all over the place. I have a short 10 day break from traveling this week and next before I take off again, and I am enjoying the slower pace.
The story I have been needing to put up here actually happened a week ago. When I got a flat tire. Some parts of it are super dramatic but it does get resolved pretty well, cause God is cool like that.
Last week I was staying with some friends in Indiana. They own a campground so it was a super fun week. I got to help them butcher some chickens, and cut grass and just do a bunch of stuff that I enjoy. Last Tuesday night, I was running out to the store at about 830 pm, when my low tire pressure light went off on my car. I have had a bad sensor so initially I thought nothing of it, other than being irritated since I thought I had fixed the problem already. Anyway, I got where I was going and decided to check all my tires and sure enough, my front passenger tire was complete flat. I actually laughed… brand new tires, here we go again! I ran inside the store.. didn’t actually get any of the things I was going for, just randomly bought sparkling water, which I near never drink, but whatever. I came out and started getting my stuff out of my trunk to change the tire. I have a spare and all the tools I would need. While I am getting things started, this guy came out (with his three LITTLE kids), and offers to help me change my tire. I politely declined since, I know how to do it, he has little ones, and idk… stranger danger I guess. He continues to offer and insists that I let him do it. I finally allow him to jack up my car and proceed to start the process, and as he is working we start talking, he apparently attended my friends church in the area, was the church IT guy and taught in the Christian school. I thought that was pretty cool and random since the church wasn’t that big and I wasn’t that close to it. God is good right? Once the car is jacked up, he goes to loosen the lug nuts and that’s where trouble starts. The tire we are changing is the same one, (which if you regularly read this, you may remember) that the lug nuts had snapped off of a few weeks ago. Right before I went to Brazil they all had just come off for no reason. Apparently, the place that had replaced them, used different ones than the rest of them on my car, and neither my tire iron or his fit the new ones. So I am wondering what to do now. There was a car shop across the street so I was going to walk over once I repacked my car (I live in there remember). As I’m putting stuff away, the guy offers to drive me over, I again, refuse. I don’t know this guy after all. Even if he has kids, its still weird right? He insists again that I at least let him drop me off over there. So I let him. We get there, and they are closed. We drive to another one, they are also closed. It’s about 9:15 pm at this point. I had called the people I was staying with, they were trying to think of what to do. The guy I was with called the church bus mechanic and we went over to his house, 10 min away, and got some tools to use. He ended up having some that worked and we were able to get it changed. I took Ray to the shop in the morning and they patched the tire and got me some real lug nuts. Everything is now fine.
It never ceases to amaze me the things that God does, those small personal blessings as well as the big crazy stories of Gods provision. He is so good and I am loving getting to share all He does with all of you. Please, Please, Please keep Ray in your prayers! Without my car I can’t get anywhere and this is a reoccurring thing with him.
Thank you for taking the time to keep up!
-Beca (and Ray)
